Who We Are
Catholic Charities of Missouri, a partnership of the four Catholic Charities agencies in the state and the Missouri Catholic Conference, was formed in December 2010. Its purpose is to bring Catholic social services to all areas of the state, particularly those where poverty is prevalent but services are scarce. While services are always grounded in Catholic social teaching, they are provided to all in need regardless of religion. Thus, the services people receive are based not on their faith, but on ours.
Our Partners
While Catholic Charities of Missouri itself is relatively new, its partners have a long history and tradition of providing social services and advocacy in the state of Missouri.
Catholic Charities of St. Louis – This organization, serving the Archdiocese of St. Louis, celebrates its 100th birthday in 2012, although some of its federated agencies have been in existence even longer. It serves a wide range of disadvantaged populations: dependent, abused and neglected children; unemployed or homeless adults; parents and children requiring family counseling; people struggling as a result of drug abuse or alcoholism; senior citizens with special needs; and many more. Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph – This agency, serving the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph, traces its beginnings to 1879. In 2011, over 294,000 people received services designed to protect and nurture children, feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, strengthen families, support the vulnerable, and honor older adults with care and dignity, through CCKC-SJ and its partners. Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri – Our newest partner agency was officially established in the Diocese of Jefferson City on July 1, 2011. Prior to its new designation, members of this organization provided many services in the diocese through the Office of Family Life, the Social Concerns Office, and Refugee and Immigration Services. Missouri Catholic Conference – While not a service provider, the Missouri Catholic Conference is an important partner of Catholic Charities of Missouri.
